Rendering Landscapes as Memory
The force and directional vectors inherent in a landscape or motif
can be rendered through a restrained matière limited to vertical and horizontal strokes.
Each mark is nothing more than an abstract block,
yet as one steps back, these blocks begin to cohere into an image—
an image that seems to rise with its own quiet mass.
My work is driven by the search for that threshold
where fragments that appear meaningless up close
suddenly become legible,
where perception crosses over into recognition.

Matière is a tool for rendering the hidden multiverse visible to the viewer.
For me, it is not the landscape or motif itself that matters,
but the act of probing the underlying structure of the unseen world behind it—
and my matière is the means by which that structure is revealed.
